Time to actually blog
Ok. Enough thinking about it. You need to write a daily journal. You have read that it is good for and can help in many ways, so let's hop to it. (This bit is for me to read)
I want to write a book of sorts one day, so I will be blogging every day until the end of the year before on embarking on such a crazy idea.
Today was pretty hectic at work - but still a good day. I am lucky to have the job I have. I have told myself for many years that I hate it, but really, it is good. One aspect of my life I really have nothing to complain about.
The main thing I would like to blog about today is someone I rode shortly with on the way home. I commute to work and tend to run across other cyclists from time to time.
I was only a couple of kilometres into the ride home when what I call a 'fast mover' under-passed me. Obviously a hardcore triathlete. This could be seen from even a cursory glance. Male, very dark tan skinned, no doubt from many hours training in the sun. He was a tall, very muscular man, probably with nordic heritage (I'm making that up). His bike was very high end, with wheels worth more than both my bikes combined.
He was comfortably cruising at 35 km/h to my slightly uncomfortable 30 km/h, but I managed to pull up alongside him at a red light. He said hello, which is not the usual for a fast mover. I greeted him back and asked if he was training for an Ironman. He said no, he had missed the cut off for Cairns, but I imagine he has done a few.
We rode side by side and had a brief chat before I couldn't ride at 35 km/h and talk at the same time. He asked me if I was doing Ironman, no doubt out of courtesy. I said I would really love to, but am about 30 kg away from it (as well as working out health issues).
This brief encounter served as a bit of motivation. Usually such a thing would of depressed me as My goal for the last five years has been to do an Ironman, but I felt good and immediately started thinking positive.
I have had many false starts with blogging - hope this isn't another.
I also agonised over sharing the blog with people I know, or family for that matter, but I think I might just get it out there. Not many people will read it anyway.
Ok. One post down.
Song of the day below. Great track with an amazing change-up to finish off. Would be amazing to hear live I think.
